Pyrography
What is pyrography?
Pyrography consists of burning the surface of an object to draw a pattern on it, most often on a wooden, leather or cork surface. This allows you to create unique and personalised decorative objects.
This technique has been around for many years, but it has been back in vogue for a few years now, due to the DIY trend. A very varied technique in its own right
Pyrography allows you to decorate your interior by personalizing your everyday objects. Indeed, you can use it on your kitchen accessories, such as your cutting boards, your plates, your spatulas, your bread bin, etc. In addition to decorative objects, pyrography can also be used on your fashion accessories such as jewelry, belts or on leather bags or pouches.
With this technique, the range of possibilities is very diverse and you can make unique works to your liking. A creative hobby accessible to all!

The choice of pyrographer
We offer two types of Hobbyring branded devices: pyrography pens and pyrography stations.
The pyrography pen is the basic device with which one can work like with a pencil. Its temperature is constant. This pyrography pen is recommended for first-timers to this activity.
For more experienced people or professionals, we recommend the pyrography station. These devices, such as the Pyrography Pro Station, are equipped with a transformer which makes it possible to adjust the temperature.
You can also find accessories on our site for pyrography such as wooden boards, cleaning brushes, manuals for beginners as well as any other kind of accessories.
How to start in pyrography?
First of all, choose your device: we recommend that beginners work with a wood suitable for pyrography, clear and quite flexible, for example linden or maple. Before you start, we advise you to rub the object with a fine abrasive paper.
Next, you need to decide what pattern you want to burn. For a first in wood pyrography, we advise you to take a fairly simple pyrography pattern and choose one of our ready-made templates, which you can find on our site. Transfer the image to the wood using the tracing paper.
When you are a beginner, it is best to experiment on an olden wooden board before starting.
Then, hold your pyrography pen perpendicular to your wooden board. Thus, your lines will be fine and precise. Try different experiments and try tilting your pencil to see the different effects.
You can also adjust the heat when using a pyrography station. If the lines are too light, try increasing the temperature. Conversely, if your wood darkens too much, reduce the temperature. The key is to practice on another wooden support first to be able to fully understand how a pyrography machine works.
