Seal your correspondence with a wax stamp

Are you looking for a way to give your correspondence a more sophisticated look?
Choose the class and security of a wax seal for your letters.
A wax seal combines the unmistakable charm of wax with the security that your privacy will always be respected: a broken seal is immediately obvious.

Charm

With a wax seal you can seal your personal correspondence in the old style.
In the past, there was no alternative to sealing wax and the only way to seal a letter was to put a seal on it to prevent prying eyes from opening and reading it.
Nowadays, we use sealing wax mainly to evoke an old, sophisticated look.
Of course it is not necessary to seal every letter we send, but for special letters sent for special occasions, sealing wax is an elegant option.

For example, to give a special, sophisticated look to wedding invitations, it might be a good idea to use a gold sealing wax on which to write the names of the bride and groom. The use of sealing wax can also make a simple envelope look very elegant, but sealed with the family crest. Another alternative would be to use sealing wax to decorate invitations and place cards or menus for your child's first communion party. With sealing wax it is easy to make every occasion a triumph.

Privacy Guaranteed

If you want to send a document that cannot be seen by prying eyes, sealing wax is the right solution for you.
Imagine that you place your seal on the envelope containing your confidential documents and on arrival, the recipient finds the seal broken or damaged, which would be a clear sign that the envelope has been opened.
A wax seal is therefore ideal to give even greater meaning to the wording "confidential" on confidential correspondence.

Giving valuable documents the importance they deserve

A wax seal is not just for embellishing a mail envelope. Seals will give your mail an authentic and elegant look and give it the importance it deserves.
You can, for example, mark your official documents such as diplomas, certificates, notarial deeds and contracts with a wax seal to make them instantly important and valuable.
We recommend that for the most important documents you use the old-fashioned red sealing wax style, this will give your document an aura of authenticity and importance that is difficult to emulate with other techniques.

5 reasons for a personalised wax seal

Would you like to send an authentic invitation with a touch of mystery? Then choose a wax seal.
With a wax seal, you can add a handcrafted touch of class and nostalgia to every communication you make and more.
Find out here 5 reasons why you too should have your own wax seal.

1. Personal Sign

With a wax seal, you can put your personal identification mark on your correspondence, envelopes, packages, letters or invitations.
A traditional monogram or your family crest will guarantee authentic and reliable correspondence. Symbols or mystical animals or stylised drawings can also be used as a sign of recognition.
If you have a company, we recommend that you use your company logo as a seal on the sealing wax. This will give all your correspondence, including business correspondence, a unique, hand-crafted touch of class that will win over the recipients of your communications.

2. Class, Nostalgia and Style

A sealing wax stamp immediately stands out due to its stylish appearance - you will be transported directly into the past. There is nothing like a scarlet red sealing wax seal to immediately evoke a feeling of mystery, authenticity and style in the eye of the beholder. What's more, since it's impossible to print two identical seals, your recipient will immediately realise that they have a handmade product.

3. Seals, not only for letters

The main use that comes to mind when you think of seals is sealing mail, but this is not the only task that these beautiful seals can do.
You could, for example, use them to decorate your correspondence or even use them to seal gifts, bottles or homemade preserves.
Would you like to use sealing wax to seal your famous berry jam, for which the recipe is a secret? What a wonderful idea.
Creative people see sealing wax and stamps as two of their best allies in the field. For example, you can use stamps to print out chocolate seals that can be used to decorate cakes and pastries - there are no limits to creativity.

4. Beautiful to use and to look at

With seals made of sealing wax you will certainly make your correspondence a little more exciting. Liquefying sealing wax in order to put your stamp on it is a very nice activity to do on a cold winter afternoon. The potential of your correspondence with your pen pal will increase considerably if you decide to surprise him or her with a wax seal.

5.Quick and easy

Creating a personalised wax sealing stamp is very easy. Once you have chosen the wax seal that is right for you with a beautiful lacquered wooden handle and an imprint plate made of shiny, pure brass, you can choose which motif you want to engrave on the seal. You can choose between a beautiful monogram, your family crest, a logo or your personal initials, and then our graphic designers will engrave your stamp and voila, it's done.

At Royal Posthumus, it is even possible to order self-adhesive seals directly, completely created according to your specifications such as size, colour, engraving, etc.

DIY invitations with beautiful decorative stamps

Christmas, the most wonderful time of the year. Greeting cards and invitations for end-of-year parties are pouring in like snow these days.
No one is ever tired of receiving invitations, but maybe you can get tired of receiving the same old invitations with the same old decorations.
This year we are changing that! Create your own invitations and make them unique, original and unforgettable.

Personal stamp

Pre-printed Christmas cards now exist in all shapes, colours and sizes, because it is very boring to receive the same anonymous and uninspired envelopes over and over again.
It would be nice to do something different to impress the friends and family who receive your greetings.
So why not create your own personalised greeting cards? Let your imagination run wild and let your creativity run wild.
A wooden card, a letter in the shape of a Christmas tree, a photo turned into an invitation with a heart-warming message? The possibilities are endless!

Whichever solution you choose, a touch of class with a personal stamp will be a guaranteed success.
An ordinary stamp could be the best solution to put all your contact details on the envelopes of your invitations. If you opt for an engraved logo, the possibilities increase exponentially.
Do you have an explosive creativity? Then why not make your own cards from a completely blank sheet of paper and create a unique invitation? Stamping a background on the envelope and then using another background for the actual cards and adding a heartfelt message will make all your greetings unique and personal.

Personalised greeting cards with sealing wax

The finish of the envelopes containing your greeting cards is also very important.
Christmas card envelopes are almost like a business card for the greeting cards themselves. During winter and Christmas, nothing is more suitable than a nostalgic wax seal that gives a rich and personal touch to the message sent.
With our sealing wax stamps, you can handcraft a seal on sealing wax and make your message unique and unforgettable. And because each seal will be slightly different from the next, each of your cards will have that special uniqueness and old-fashioned class that will ensure your greetings don't go unnoticed.

Wax over the centuries

The history of sealing wax began during the era of the great explorations of the 16th century, but even today it is still used in the same way by private individuals and professionals.
One of the main uses that still makes sealing wax inimitable today is the sealing of personal correspondence by applying a seal that makes the mail unique, giving it a touch of authenticity and solidity.
But this is not the only use for which sealing wax is used, here is a historical overview.

Portuguese explorations

Wax is mistakenly thought to have been used during the Middle Ages to seal things, but it only became famous in Europe thanks to explorers.
It wasn't until the 16th century that adventurers such as Marco Polo, who braved the seas and oceans to explore distant horizons and go far to the east, imported sealing wax from India to Portugal.
Since then, sealing wax has been used in southern European countries such as Spain and Portugal and only later spread to the rest of Europe.

Composition of sealing wax

During the Middle Ages, sealing wax consisted of normal beeswax. Later, other ingredients were added to modify its composition, resulting in what is now a more refined and versatile product.

These ingredients are:

  • Turpentine
  • Shellac
  • Chemical colouring agents (cinnabar, chrome yellow, lead mint....)

Today's shellac softens when heated (without releasing harmful fumes) and hardens when cooled.
It is therefore easy to shape when hot and is ideal for stamping or sealing documents and correspondence.
Exactly the application for which sealing wax was used in the past.

Using sealing wax?

Despite the passage of time, a wax seal is still useful today for sealing or decorating personal correspondence.
By engraving a logo or personal initials on a wax seal, every letter, invitation or card is transformed into a piece of jewellery that immediately catches the recipient's eye.

A wax seal is ideal for embellishing your wedding invitations, thank-you cards, business cards...
Decorate all your correspondence with a unique and extremely elegant touch and make it unique and inimitable by choosing a pre-formed model from our large assortment or even by designing your own model.

Stylish invitations with self-adhesive wax seals

Do you have a special occasion coming up or is it time for your birthday party and would like to add a touch of style to the invitations you are about to hand out to your friends and family?
Royal Posthumus has a solution you never imagined: elegant self-adhesive wax seals.
The seals are very easy to apply and give a unique style to your invitations.

Create an invitation with style

A wedding, an anniversary, a birthday, Christmas or New Year's Eve.... these are just some of the occasions that call for a home-made party or reception.
If we talk about parties, we can't avoid talking about the invitations that are the prelude to them.
It is possible to create stylish invitations for any occasion, but it takes a lot of time and effort to make them unique and unforgettable.
If you don't have the time to make your invitations unique, we have a solution for you: seals made of wax.
Placing one of these seals on your invitation will embue it with style and give it a sophisticated look in a moment. Considering that each seal is handmade and therefore different from the other, in just a few seconds you will make your invitations unique.

Stamp or Seal?

There are two ways to decorate your invitations with sealing wax.
You can use a sealing wax stamp and mark your invitations yourself or make this task easier and faster by using one of the various models of prefabricated self-adhesive seals.
Stamping by hand is a bit more complicated and necessarily requires more time. The wax must be liquefied and applied to the invitations and then stamped.
The use of self-adhesive seals will save you a lot of precious time, especially if you have a lot of invitations. To apply the seals, simply stick them directly onto the invitations thanks to the self-adhesive layer on the back and you're done.

Seals for every occasion

Our self-adhesive seals come with images for every occasion:

  • A heart for your Valentine's Day card
  • A rose to decorate your daughter's birthday party invitations
  • A Christmas tree to stick on your Christmas cards
  • A crown to give a royal style to your son's 18th birthday party invitations
  • A cocktail glass for your garden barbecue party invitations
  • A flowering tree to put on your thank you cards for the christening of your new baby guests

You're sure to find an image that suits you in our extensive range, but if not, Royal Posthumus also offers you the option of designing your own seals and having them delivered to your door.

4 creative ideas to make with stamps

In winter there is nothing better than spending a quiet afternoon at home, possibly in front of the fireplace, enjoying a hot cup of tea. If the children are also at home, then entertain them with a fun creative activity so they don't get bored.
Looking for inspiration? We will help you with an overview of 4 possibilities to pass the time quickly on long winter afternoons.

1. Smiley stamps

Are your children little artists? Then they should be encouraged to let their imagination run wild by drawing and colouring their own little works of art.
A fun activity could be to invent an art exhibition: give them drawing assignments, let them exchange their masterpieces and, just like a jury, give them a grade.
The vote should not be given with a score, but by using one of our smiley stamps. Each judge will then put a smiley face on the other competitor's work and in no time at all the afternoon is spent in merriment.

2. Motivational Stamps

At the end of the school year your children deserve praise if they have done their best at school.
With our motivational stamps you can add a touch of colour and also show your appreciation for their achievements by adding a personal touch to their report cards.
Even for less brilliant report cards you could use a motivational stamp, in which case, more neutral options can also be used to communicate that you are not fully satisfied with their work.
Tip: after applying the stamp, whatever it is, explain to them why the stamp is there and what it means to you.

3. Learning the clock

Learning to tell the time on an analogue clock has never been easier with our clock stamps.
Let your children experiment and learn how to tell the time with these stamps. They will allow your children to practice as long as they want and until they have learned to tell the time without difficulty.
The possibilities are endless, one of the options could be a game with prizes: the contestants who answer the questions correctly and guess the time printed on the stamp several times win a nice prize.

4. Do-it-yourself stamps

If you want to keep your children busy with creative activities, one possible solution could be to let them build and design their own stamps.
Of course it will take some time before the do-it-yourself stamps can be used by their little inventors, but the satisfaction of using something built with their own hands will be very great.

Attention: this activity requires adult supervision as it can be a delicate task.
To do this activity you need some specific materials and a good working method, so we recommend that you inform yourself before trying out this new activity.
You can find good advice in hobby and toy shops or simply by looking for a guide on the internet.
Generally speaking, with some rubber, an ink pad, glossy paper and glue you can easily create your own self-designed stamps.

Motivating your students with stamps

Motivation is a very important factor in determining a students' success at school.
Increasing a pupil's motivation can make the difference between being successful or failing. Fortunately, there are many ways to positively motivate pupils.
Years ago it was with stickers, nowadays it is possible to be more creative with technology.
Are you interested in giving your students a little motivational boost? This is possible by using our motivational stamps.

Motivational Stamps

Young pupils are very sensitive to positive motivation. Using nice stamps with cheerful motives or texts or signs to give them morale when they have correctly completed their assigned tasks can be very helpful.
Stamps such as: Good, Congratulations, Good Work etc. are just a few examples of positive messages that in a colourful and original motivational way can be used with your pupils.

Award stamps

Practice and homework are the norm at school. As a teacher you can do something extra for your pupils, communicating a good grade or the correct completion of assigned tasks with a nice colourful stamp will ensure that their motivation grows and make them curious, spurring them on to get that new stamp.

Customised children's stamps

Do you prefer to draw and design your own? This is also possible!
Our assortment of wooden stamps is fully customisable and you can decide which text or design on which children's stamp to put in which size and even which font to use.

Also take a look at our image library in the stamp configurator, this will also give you an insight into all the customisation possibilities we offer.

3 reasons why children love stamps

Stamping is fun! Many children think so!
With a set of colourful stamps and some paper, cardboard or pieces of fabric your children will be busy all day decorating and creating their own masterpieces.
Why do children love stamps so much?

1. Stamping their name

Playing is learning. This saying is almost as old as the world. There is therefore no better way to teach your child to write their name and learn the alphabet than by using stamps.
It's also a great start with the "old school" methods, as there is always time to learn how to use a mobile phone.

2. Creativity

Stamps help children develop their imagination. Give them a creative task such as designing a logo for their personal stamp and integrate it with a text or date.
This could, for example, be the start of the creation of your new family logo that includes your address or some of your important dates.

3. Not only on paper

With children's stamps you not only have to decide what to print, but also where to print it.
With our special stamps you can also stamp on cardboard, wood or fabric. Just think how nice it would be to have a T-shirt that has been personalised by the person wearing it.
Other ideas could be pillow cases, textile shopping bags, or scarves and clothing in general.

Keep in mind that stamping on fabric is different from stamping on paper and therefore this operation also requires a different technique.
But don't worry, with the right practice and patience you will soon get satisfactory results and your afternoons will fly by while you are busy doing creative activities with your children.

Personalised newborn invitations

Are you interested in preparing your own invitations for the baby shower at home? Great idea!
Of course, if you want to make a good impression on your guests, a personalised invitation is the perfect solution.
What's more, you don't need to invest too much time or money to create a personalised invitation.

Just follow the steps below:

1. Choosing the style

Before you start decorating your invitations, you need a good starting point. Start by simply thinking about your own style!
The introduction of your child is an important event that deserves a special invitation that has a special look and gives your family a special touch.
Do you like straightforward, no-frills invitations or are you in love with invitations in cheerful colours and full of figures? Everything is possible and everything is allowed, the important thing is to choose what you really like.

2. Original Addition

It can be a nice piece of text, a photo of the baby or something else, the important thing is that it is something original that can add a touch of originality to your invitation. What about a stamp? Use a stamp to put your logo or the monogram or initials of the newborn on the invitations. You can also stamp the party address or your personal contact details in colour so that they stand out to your guests.

3. Experiment and ask for advice

Already have ideas in your head? Keep them and share them with a friend or family member who has good taste.
Suggestions from loved ones help us to make the right choices and also to see the mistakes we can't see.
Ask for advice on the engraving you want to use on your stamp - two heads are better than one.

Tip: Ask your friends who among them is engaged in a creative hobby, very often people like to make small creations in their free time that can be of great help and above all really original ideas.

4. Finishing
